So our journey began in the land of sand that is Dubai…and it’s tall building the Burj Khalifa (known to us as Wiz) which we spent a lot of time admiring and practicing our photography skills with our new accessory – the selfie stick. Evidently, I am more efficient when it comes to achieving the perfect angle but there’s still time for James to step his game up..! The city seemed relatively quiet as we walked around it but we soon realised that Dubai really comes alive at night with the malls open til 12 along with waterfront restaurants and an obvious social buzz.
We made the most of our short time in the city by taking the metro all the way down to the Palm for a nosey at the man made island, only to find you had to pay and go on another monorail to reach it and as we had plans to meet my friend Anna back in the city we didn’t have the time, so got straight back on the metro and made the 40 minute journey back again! All worth it in the end as we spent a gorgeous evening eating some class sushi while the impressive fountains went off every half hour to the likes of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson…all while catching up with my Uni friend, Miss Packford, who assured us living in Dubai was much more rewarding than visiting.
Our next morning began with a watermelon and really marked the start of our adventure along with what we expect to be many more watermelons 🙂
